James Duncan Rolfe was born on the 10thdated July 1980 in Haddonfield, New Jersey, United States. He attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. From an early age he owned an audio recorder gifted by his parents and a camera that served as a portal to his love and passion for storytelling. Whenever he took pictures as a child, he always attached a narrative to them. He was also an avid series and collector of Nintendo Power magazines, which led him to film reviews of Nintendo video games as a fun pastime for friends. He then uploaded the videos to a website he created with friend Mike Matei in 1989 called Cinemassacre. When he uploaded the videos to YouTube due to Mike Matei’s encouragement, it became very popular with viewers. Because of this positive outcome, the series eventually became a program for ScrewAttack and GameTrailers. James Rolfe found the motivation to create adventure stories from itTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – an American animated series, Super Mario Bros. , The Legend of Zelda , and Contra which are all video games.
